Starting Our Rabbitry

Along with striving for ethical animal husbandry a main goal that I have for my farm is to ethically source the materials we use for our hutches and houses. To achieve this the first two rabbit hutches built on our farm were made from recycled materials.

Armed with a pry bar, hammer, drill and saw I got to work breaking down a 48inx48in shipping crate. The crate was completely dismantled and rearranged to create a 48inx48in platform sectioned off down the middle and 15 inches from the back wall to make the supports for the divider and nest box walls. All of the wood from the first two hutches were completely recycled and if there is interest blueprints can be made to show the dimensions in case you would like to build it for yourself.
